The above is an absurd advertisement because everyone knows you cannot buy or sell time. Everyone has only the same 24 hours each day. The richest or most famous person has no more time in a day than you have. A certain song says, “We spend our days like bright and shiny new dimes.” How true when you consider how you cannot accomplish very much in one day, the same as you cannot buy very much for a dime. But each day is a new day, filled with bright and shiny potential.

You need to choose carefully how you use your days because you have only so many of them, and then, they will all be gone. You cannot go back and live your life over a second time to correct the mistakes you make. When Jesus was on the Earth he did many miracles, but never made one old person young again.

Your Days Are Numbered

In Psalm 103:15-16 and in other places in the bible, man is compared to the grass and flowers of a field that flourish for a while, then are cut down or wither and pass away. Moses prayed “Teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.” (Psalm 90:12) Solomon said, “A wise man’s heart discerneth both time and judgment.” (Ecclesiastes 8:5) If you would be wise, you also should consider time and judgment to come. If you know time is limited and swiftly passes away, then wouldn’t it make sense to live your days here in preparation for eternity.

Time flows like a river and does not wait for you.

All known time is like a drop in a vast "River of Eternity."

COMING JUDGMENT

God has “appointed a day in which he will judge the world...” (Acts 17:31) “Every one of us shall give account of himself to God.” (Romans 14:12). How will you answer for a life spent with very little thought for God. One day this world will end and the kingdom of God will take over. Those that have pressed their way into this kingdom will rejoice in that day like people at a wedding celebration. The knowledge of God will cover the earth like the waters cover the sea.

In the great day of Judgment, described in Rev. 20:11-15, God will sift and separate the people like the wheat is separated from the chaff. God will judge every deed done whether good or bad. The righteous will enter into eternal life and the wicked will go into everlasting punishment (Mat. 25: 46). The people whose names are not written in the Book of Life will be cast into a lake of fire.

Is your name in the Book of Life?

You need to make sure your name is in the Book of Life. Begin now to seek after God and his righteousness. “Now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.” (IICor. 6:2) You can’t say to Jesus, “Wait here while I go and fulfill all my dreams.” The Bible says, “Today if you will hear his voice, harden not your hearts.” (Heb 3:15) Real salvation only comes through forgiveness of sins in Jesus Christ and then diligent obedience to Jesus Christ.
